Meeting with fellow graduate students at an EMP event tonight, I found that most of us move between several departments. Registrars-in-training are closet educators; science educators would love to manage art exhibitions. Most of us are armed with multiple resumes to reflect our several museum selves.
As we prepare to graduate and reenter the field, there is of course buzz about where the jobs are. This got me thinking about where the jobs could or perhaps should be. What could be done with this interdisciplinary excitement? What other industries might be further hybridized into the field?
Toward what efforts would you want your museum to direct this new energy? As a field, where do you think the next wave of museum professionals would be best put to work?
