Searches for blogs on the Philadelphia conference so far have not been found anything about the importance of good lighting to preserve collections, save energy, increase productivity, safety, attendance, gift shop sales, and provide personal comfort.

To paraphrase Rodney Dangerfield, "Lighting don't get no respect".

I'd like to point out some support for you from outside the profession, you should know that those of us who work globally to promote Inclusive Tourism (the application of Universal Design by the travel & hospitality industry) closely follow what is being done in museum, park, and historic site management as it pertains to growing the market of travelers who experience disabilities (i.e Cultural Tourism).

Two examples of crossover leadership:

Viviane Panelli Sarraf - http://tournet.ning.com/profile/VivianePanelliSarraf
(http://www.museuacessivel.incubadora.fapesp.br )

Jessica Zarin Kessin - http://tournet.ning.com/profile/JessicaZarinKessin

I really enjoyed my first AAM conference this year! (And I even chaired a session to boot on inexpensive website design for Small Museum Day) Thank you for all the interesting entries. I put a couple of thoughts on the blog for the Jewish Museum of Maryland: http://www.jewishmuseummd.blogspot.com, if you'd like to check it out. Thanks!

It's about time that some serious energy has been put toward creative offerings with audiences of many physical, social mental abilities. Been calling for it for a long time. Had to fight for even the most basic elements of hospitality in the past.

Thanks for the update, Ansel.

I loved this as well; especially the fact that it wasn't planned into the schedule and no one knew about it. I went to a session yesterday that talked about the spontaneity, serendipity and power of graffitti - this was just like that.

Aw, who didn't know that was going to happen? The Man was bound to crack down on that. Having Too Much Fun is always something of a target.

You "guerilla exhibitors" totally won my heart, though, and I spent my nickel, but it wasn't really about the nickel, or the fact that you weren't supposed to be there, or even that I needed advice all that much. From my p.o.v., for all the attempts to get us talking at AAM, this was one of the best things EVER in my five times attending.

Sessions, articles, and discussion about generational divides could make hay with this one. Ideas. Experimentation. Gen Y's ascending...so much good stuff in there.

Did you make much money? Did The Man take the nickel jar?

First time impressions... an unexpected benefit of attending the AAM Conference in Philadelphia occurred watching the
"Spark" movie during the General Session Friday. I was reminded so delightfully of why I am a museum advocate. This thought resurfaced during the "How to Prove the Value of Museums"presentation: I am indeed evidence of the personal value of museums to individuals. This boost of affirmment to my career choice and hopes for the future was a lovely surprise!
